Apparently where I was going was very important to this cop. I only ever drive it 1-2 times a week so it’s not my daily driver at all.

Mine also is red, loud (bisimoto exhaust, no silencer), and a targa.

My first thought was "VA cop hassling a guy for antique plates? Yeah that's about par for the course". I miss a lot of things about living in VA but the cops everywhere and at every level looking to pull you over for petty BS is definitely not one of them.

If you're at the company I used to be at, every day was a vintage german collector car event in the parking garage.

I also wouldn't rule out bias on the part of the officer...

If you drive it that often and to work possibly, that is a huge factor and yes the question of where you were going is the exact question anyone with antique plates will be asked because many people violate the rules particularly Monday through Friday. If you are driving it one to two times per week especially to work, then shame on you antique plates are not meant for that. If you take it to work once or twice a year, ok then and take back roads.

I hope being an African American male wasn't a contributing factor although that is possible and I am not blind to that. I can assure you if I got pulled over in the same situation I would have received a ticket and not a warning. I have many other tickets to prove that statement however the good news is you got a warning.

I have to admit I came home yesterday from a trip to PA in my Audi and literally told my family that that day was the perfect day to have the windows open, music on and row through the gears.

Yes, same place...maybe leadership can make the parking garage an “official” daily car show event.

Let me expand of that:

Don't have an accident, as it will mess up your car.

And if you do get a ticket and are trying to skate around the intent of Antique plates, don't bitch about it.
