Highlight of the weekend: catching up with John Magistro. He was the first person I met at PCA Potomac and was the one who suggested I do the HPDC in my red car ("hilarious!" I responded...). Miss that guy. When he came up to my paddock spot I shoved my keys in his hand and said "White is out. JUST GO". He had this big grin - made me so happy.
Otherwise, if anyone was wondering, Martin and I had NO fun and there were exactly ZERO sexual innuendos and we did NOT make fun of other people or the lame high HP cars. We definitely did NOT give each other multiple moreGasms. And I definitely did NOT wear him out by running back to back blue/green sessions. Thank you Martin and sorry(not sorry) I am now your burden. Rest of my season I'll be out at NJMP and recruiting for Marianne 2.0 at the northeast tracks. PM me if you want to come play and I'll let you know which events. Peace out and don't hit anything. |

Another awesome weekend, with the exception of Randy's car breaking on Sat. I met him my first day in White when we discovered we had similar pace and we've been pushing each other to get better since, discussing things off the track and then trying to apply them on it.
I did 4 skid pad sessions and I think I managed to improve each time. It's always a blast down there, and so important. Shane asked to ride with me Sunday morning, and then tried to get me a Black check out ride afterwards. He was told it wouldn't happen due to my lack of total days, which was understandable. I didn't think anything else of it, but then during lunch, Dennis waved me over and told me we were going out in the next Black group, "just for fun." So I spent the next 2 hours nervous and anxious and building it up in my head. Picked him up beforehand and starting getting on grid when we noticed it was empty. No way I was going to be first so we let about 8 or so cars through. With a couple minutes to go I didn't see anyone else coming so I got in line. Then the floodgates opened and the right lane filled up and what seemed like 20 cars piled into the left lane. Did I mention this was the first combined black/red group? Talk about trial by fire. As we sat there, my mouth was completely dry and I was soaked. I hadn't been that nervous since my very first track day. Then we got going and I forgot all about it and had a great time. Only got flicked off once, so success? (Later found out Dennis instigated it, but it was still hilarious.) Here's a video of that session if anyone is curious. Welcome gesture at 12:20.

Well even though it didn't look like it, the weekend was a success for ol' Goggles. After a long battle with the 914, I got it put back together, aligned and back to the track. Success 1. Then after my amazingly famous orientation lap, I was out bozo'd by Chuck. Success 2. Took the 914 out in black 3 on Friday, where it handled like a mag lev and didn't drip a drop of oil. Success 3. Got an awesome student in green Ben 4141 who crushed it all weekend and was promoted to blue first thing Sat morn. Success 4. Caught a ride in white with Mr. C in his CLEAN M3, recommended his promo to black and he earned it. Success 5. Finally got a ride with Mrs BMAN in the Cayman after 3 years. Loved how she cranked it up a couple notches after BMAN went by. Success 6. Got a call from Sloan (Thanks Dennis Howard for giving out my number) for someone to buy THE KILLER BEE GTI. Success 7. Didn't drive much, but... success is all in how you look at it. Fun weekend for sure. Thanks to all who put it together - all the special events, and a free t shirt! Success 8.

Fun weekend. I don't get to do too many DE's so it's always fun to catch up with people.
Had an eager young student in handlebar's son Ian. What a hoot. 0/0 green with some autocross. The autocross experience was evident. We spent his first weekend on track working on consistency. By Saturday he was moving along quite well. He did a great job and was able to give the car back to his Dad in one piece I've been tracking cars for 12 years now and found I could still learn something myself. I had a few people in my right seat. Chuck shamed me for tapping the brakes at the top of the chute, BikePump had a great suggestion to help with consistent braking into 10 and The Punk, er, Boy showed me some new approaches to 3 and 10 I might be able to use next month at the club race. Always learning. It's easy to do the same thing over and over again then some Mr. Clean looking guy suggests my erratic braking might be pad knock back and not only does he leave floors spotlessly clean with a fresh pine scent but he might have fixed the issue I've fought for a loooong time. It's the most important turn on the track dammit! And the Boy is young enough to be stupid and try stuff so if he can show me it works then I'll try it. If things go badly for him then I know I shouldn't try it And Chuck's peer pressure always works. I'm almost 50 and that sh!t still works. And I may have convinced the birthday boy (hobiecat) to jump into the fray with a SpecBoxster of his own. As always, thank you to the volunteers that make all this happen. We don't have a club without you!

Omg you are younger than the Birthday Boy!
Apparently you also suggested to him that he trick out his girlfriends' car...we'll see how that goes. Thank you, Hunt for the ride along. It was perfectly timed instruction - N0tt0n had me working on G's rather than thinking of speed through the corners. With you, I set a G baseline of "poo came out"= 10 and I drove a hell of a lot better after with that. Thank you. |

I'm here to help. And by help I do not mean clean up the poo that came out

Here's some video of the first combined Red/Black. Had fun intentionally following Dean for a few laps. We usually do that every event. Love looking at his beaufiful @ss.
I struggled with rear grip all weekend. Played with the dials on the suspension most of the weekend and it got better, but still had trouble putting more power down from 6-9. When I really leaned on the car in T10 is also acted annoyed at me
