Default Stacked Car Parking

What's the downside of parking a second car under one on a two post lift? Obviously, I would raise the second car to full height on the lift, then lower it onto the mechanical safety stops. Car on the lift would be the 911, car parked under would be the wife's ride. Anybody have a car "diaper" design?

I have this setup, but my wife's truck only fits if I use spacers under my lift pads. Also, my wife's truck has a whip antenna, which is higher than the cab roofline. Not good if it doesn't clear the bottom of your P-car. Between those two issues, my daily driver parks under my P-car when it goes inside the garage. It is going to depend on your wife's enthusiasm or lack thereof for the scheme and the size of her vehicle. My wife's truck goes in the stall next to my lift and not under my lift about 99% of the time.

If your car is tight, dripping fluids are not a problem.

Aren't there metal pans that sit across the lift to catch the car when it marks its territory?

Rick- as an aside my son just got into M&T....... He is over the moon.

I use an oil absorbent mat and if its really bad a mat in a metal tray. Nothing fancy, just rig a bungy or 2 to hold it in place.

I've used my 2 post for stacked parking. Though less convenient than a 4 post it works well if you don't mind the hassle of setting it up. As for the car diaper a small HF tarp suspended under car with some short bungees should work fine and be easy on/off.

No downside.

Just need ceiling height to get car high enough to drive under.

And a way to catch drips if you care about the car before...

If this is a track car with track brake pads make sure it is clean and dry before parking beneath it. I've noticed that brake dust running off of wheels can stain whatever is below it. Folks with trailer tire racks over their cars usually have hood stains.

I don't know of any two post lifts with drip trays. Make clip on plastic pans for the wet areas on the upper car.

Any issues with the suspension bushings, etc. getting tweaked from unsupported tires?
