What kind of stupid event is that - "burn out" against a rubber-covered concrete wall has to be the dumbest thing I've ever seen.

Hope the cage was okay, because even before the fire it was the most valuable part of the car--by far!

Spinning the clutch rather than the back wheels is one of the many fails. As far as MX-5s go that one had some $ parts bolted to it.

As protective as VIR is of their infrastructure and specifically their pavement I wonder what the bill for new asphalt will be.

I'm assuming this is the skidpad--that I just inquired about renting. I'll have to look at it this weekend.

Also--when I first watched this video I didn't see the driver exit the car so was very disturbed that there was nobody immediately on site with any ability to fight the fire and perform any extraction and rescue if required. I kind of doubt that after VIR's staff sees this video this burnout contest will be part of the annual Hyperfest.
