Very cool. Cool old bike to begin with, now it looks like a brand new cool bike.

Just stumbled over a 1945 British film on "How bikes are made" The DL-1 is the subject bike and there are a couple outside long shots of the post war factory. Classic narration and the worker safety standards of the time are compared to now.

Very cool resto!

There is a super neat video out there similar to the one above of the vintage Schwinn electroforged (EF) frames. Basically they start w/ rolls of steel strip, roll them into tubes or stamp into parts, then using ERW do a displacement weld of everything w/ no brazing. I can't find the video at the moment.

Price check on reg #3 please. So I make up a parts list of things to change on the bike. Indicator chain has some rust on it and they tend to break now and then even more so after you bang them into a wall while parking the bike. 18 tooth rear cog is a bit too tall for NOVA so I want t try a 22 tooth, the non drive side axle nut has some tenacious rust on it. Do the internet thing and find one shop that has all 3 parts I want. Old odd parts are not cheap and I wanted the chrome cog rather than the black oxide one....with shipping the parts came to $12.03.

Total resto, that looks really nice! I dig the generator powered light set, no batteries to change. All that chrome polished up great.
