Did you have have an identical "twin"? I remember having a good time following a navy blue boxster with track layout stickers on the pop up spoiler in White group.

Sorry to hear.

I'd say go for the swap.

Real sorry to hear that.

I suspect that Boxter motors are harder to find than Boxter bodies.

Your experience with the aftermarket IMS seems to be something that is not unusual. They push the increased reliability of the aftermarket part over the improved Porsche version with great confidence. I wonder if it is worth folks looking to see if there are some actual numbers to support this.

Been there- my LN bearing failed. Call Sloan at SSI. He may have a motor for you.

I am so sorry to hear about this...This is why I went to a M3 "For the time being..."

I sold my 996 even after I fixed the IMS as well... After talking to a my amazing mechanic Matt, he said that its just a flaw in the engine and that the ins bearing would have to be the size of a grapefruit to handle the torque and stress that the engine imposes on the bearing. He also said that no configuration would work correctly with the set up that was designed for that engine.

Thats why the 997's had failures as well, honestly has nothing to do with oil etc... Quite frankly the ceramic bearings that were in the IMS upgrade that I had put in were "off of the shelf" bearings....Nothing special..

I didn't want to deal with the stress of tick, tick, tick.....

Really sorry to hear that. Was that rattle we were listening to have any relation to the IMS problem? Also, did you notice if you were using any more oil than usual?
