I would sign her up for the PCA Potomac AX course (is it in Mar or Apr?) that Tony runs. I did it last year. All the instructors are kind, caring individuals ;-{)}. . .seriously, they are all VERY professional and there were several women and EVERYONE (regardless of gender) had a fantastic time.

I agree with the suggestions of the AX School. It too is a full day, with the morning sessions dedicated to exercises. The afternoon is for the full AX course. But running the AX course might be less pressure than the lapping sessions of the HPDC. Plus, it's less $$ if she decides it is not for her.

no.

don't have her meet other 'track widows'. their mouths say one thing but the eyes say the other...

just push her off the deep end, ie: plan her whole weekend....starting from before to all-da-way-after the track activities... and then she'll swallow it whole.

anything less will be a failed attempt.

you can ween her off the 'relaxation' stuff once you know she's hooked, but first time out you gotta make it a bit more exciting other than get-up-at-five-am-after-staying-awake until 1(am), then-drive-to-WEST-_ _ _ _ ing-va-for-the-whole-noisy-day.

'know what i mean?

This is looking like a good option. Heck, I've never AXed so I can participate.

Perfect chance for some competition with a new sport. Challenger her to a contest where looser is on top later.

Let me see... I think the problem is likely who is teaching her... it's tough to not get frustrated by a spouse or parent... My dad gave up teaching me when I was 16, but my boyfriend was able to teach me no problem... he was highly motivated to be really nice and not piss me off.

By the way, I was married to my ex-husband for almost 14 years and he wouldn't learn to drive a manual either so what the hell do I know!

Yeah, she tells me that. Unfortunately, I have had many friends offer to teach her and she hasn't taken them up, either.

Resurrection!

I'm taking "the wif" to the AX school this year. I've signed her up, but she's still iffy as to whether she wants to drive.

A big obstacle for her with AX is that she's a redhead (wait for it...). She's heard me come back with tales of spending all morning spinning some laps, and all afternoon standing out in the sun - and witnessed the nice, burrrrrned, Eastern European Olive skin to show for it. So, she's convinced she will burst into flames! Any AX work options for the pigmentally challenged? - seems like the scoring trailer requires some paying of dues running after cones first...

The recommendations on having her stick to a car she knows have me wondering. The 997 is right out most likely - she's driven it, but probably will refuse to for the AX. The Beemer is an option as she's driven that plenty, but that's a lot o' ponies to wrestle for your first sporting jaunt...

Then there's her 4Runner daily driver. I've seen some Cayennes dice the cones, but they're actually designed to do that. Body roll in the 4Runner makes me think it will seem scary and not enjoyable.

Mostly I'd like her to learn that there's a whole lot more to car control than what she's learned patrolling the Tahoe National Forest in an F-250... Maybe the 4Runner really is the one to go with?

So great to hear she is going to come out. First off regarding the car choice the 4Runner is not an option so you will have to choose between the p-car and the bimmer. Don't be afraid with the 997 that is the car that Pat started in too. Maybe she could have a chat with her to reassure her

As far as work assignments for the pigmentally challenged I am sure we can find a job for her that won't find her needing to be dunked in aloe at the end of the day. All she needs to do is make them aware during registration onsite and Lara will take care of the rest

We'll do that, thanks.

I think its probably more a matter of she'll need me to be put in a sensory-deprivation tank, so she can drive it without feeling like she's subjecting me to CIA interrogation methods... (I'm cool with it, I swear.)
