I can attest to that. I wore out my PS2s a year or so ago and couldn't get Super Sports at the time so I substituted a tire that was rated "almost as good." It wasn't.

As hard as I tried I couldn't improve on what I did on the PS2s, although I had several more days on the same track. So, I decided to back off a bit and wait until I wear the new tires out. Funny thing is I'm not really any slower most laps than when i was really trying hard.

This is not to say I can't improve my own driving, just that the tires only give you so much.

All three are worth the couple of minutes it takes to read. I've only driven parade laps on track in a car with nannies, but even then, on an unfamiliar track, I had them kick in a time or two.

The 930 is a whole different experience, and instead of nannies, I had some very good instructors. Fortunately, they kept my dumb ass in check so we didn't end up as the lesson learned in another of these articles. (Thanks, Gary, Bob, et al!)
