Got a couple of those for cheap if anyone wants.
If you have a lift a strong fixed hight table can act as a trans jack and more I use one for all kinds of stuff and when it does not have a motor or trans or both on it it is more FSA and not in the way.

I have an older incarnation of one of these from HF:
It's invaluable for FEWC and MEWC transmission drops. Having the high extension allows you to position the transmission with the car fully elevated with good visibility. Much easier to rotate the input shaft and get everything aligned properly when reinstalling the transmission. Getting the it off the jack is more problematic however, since the lowest it can go is like 4 feet. I also drag it over and use it to hold my oil container - again, it's convenient to have the car all the way up on the lift.

I've done a couple engine/trans swaps on my lift. We always lower, use a floor jack or some other table, take out last bolts, and lift car off it. if I was doing swaps every week I'd want something more dedicated, but once/twice a yr its easy to do w/ existing equipment that takes no additional space. Space is the limiting factor in my garage.

Audi, Porsche and MB are all switching over to tables with fitments. A standardized table that you bolt an adapter for model XXX to that fits in built in sockets in the drive train or sub-frame. still need a stand now and then for a transfer case, dif and the like. As said in home use you better have the floor space for it. They are floor space greedy.
Will check the dark back room and see what is lurking in the corner.

Bill Miller has a much taller table on large strong castors. He puts 4x4s on the edges for engine removal and lifts the car off the engine. In between jobs, it makes a great work table. Not full height but he can removed/replace an engine quickly.
