XPR-10a is what I have. My only gripes are that the arms are so thick that I have to use a floor jack to get low cars on the pads. The other gripe is that I wish the pads were on threaded supports so I could just spin them to the right height instead of using spacers or blocks. Some day I will actually look into ordering parts to make these upgrades.

But going with the shorter unit is probably easier than what I did which was build a garage around the lift specs.

Seeing your setup is what convinced me to go with the bendpak.

XPR-10A-LP Min pad height: 3.5"

XPR-10A Min. Pad Height: 4"

Doesnt seem like a lot but I hope the extra .5" is all it takes.

What is the thought on the asymmetric lifts for 911? I see how effective they are for front engine cars. Will they still work properly for back heavy 911? Granted the 911 is not that heavy...
I haven't had any issues with mine. Most shops that I've seen use then, so well proven in commercial use.

I bought 2 2"x12" planks to use as portable ramps. When I take the time to set them in place I have no issues with clearance. Original plan was to cut to fit, drill holes to save weight and add handles like I did to the PCAP ramps. I'll report back if I ever actually get this done

PCAP uses wood ramps to speed the process at techs. Issue with kickback lessened by using carpet runners for approach. Issue with those is if not perfectly placed the lift arms won't swing over ramp.

I've seen some replacement arms for my Rotary that lowers the lift pads even more.

Worth a try. I'm counting nickels and just need to pull some wire.

I used these guys to install my lift and compressor. Fantastic job and a fair price. http://rdsautoequipment.com/
My lift is a 4 post with removable casters that make it mobile. Very happy with the lift and the price paid.

So once the lift is in, then what? Well outside of oil changes and stuff like that, I'm going to need equipment to help with the big removal jobs - rear subframes, gas tanks transmissions, engines, etc. My first thought was to pick up a high lift transmission jack like one of these: http://www.tooltopia.com/sunex-tools-7793b.aspx.

Yesterday I was at Harbor Freight and started looking at one of these instead: http://www.northerntool.com/shop/too...1993_200631993

The down side of the table obviously is that it doesn't go as high. So you have to lower the lift, raise the table, and then squat/sit under the lift to finish the removal. I did find a different version of the same idea that goes a bit higher, but still not to the 70" or so that a full trans jack would get you: http://www.northerntool.com/shop/too...1994_200631994

There are a lot of upsides to the table though. It stores much better in my garage. It's a lot more versatile - I can use it with engine drops as well as transmission work, to lift other equipment for repair (snowblower, pressure washer, etc), it's be nice for lifting engines onto engine stands, and it seems like it'd be a lot more stable.

Thoughts? Anyone have one of these tables in their garage?

The table lift seems pretty useful but I wonder how you would use it for car work. Are you sitting on a stool or the ground? To me a trans jack is one of those things you need with a lift, even if its only used once in a while.

happy with this lift installers?

I've also considered both of these. IIRC the lessor one's handle is fixed. Though fixable a point against it. I also looked at HF alternative to the expensive one you link:
Name: image_26557.jpg

Edit Problem with these is you end up with a lump relatively high in air. I use my lift arm and sling to raise engines to mount on stand. Engine usually from ATV jack and stand isn't very tall.
