Dave, very sorry to hear about your son.

Agree with what others have said: fix the sunroof and odo gear first, since they're easy.

WP/TB job can be completed in a couple/few hours with minimal fuss. Maybe an extra hour depending on how many "helpers" from the Dorki community you have heckling (count me in, BTW).

The turn signal auto-cancel won't ever get fixed unless you replace it with a working stock.....come the think of it, I believe I have one you can just have. You'll need to remove your steering wheel to fix the Odo gear anyway, so why not replace the stock. Edit: in some rare cases, the tab on the back of the steering wheel has worn down. Try wrapping it in electrical tape a few times to build it back up. That may be all you need.

RE: the A/C, do you have R12 or R134a? I have a set of R134a manifold gauges. If you want, you can try recharging the A/C system and see what happens. It's normal for the refrigerant to have leaked out after all these years, so it's entirely possible that a simple recharge will get it back to working order. IMO, I don't consider an old car to have "leaky A/C" if it requires a yearly recharge. More frequently than that and OK, yeah it's probably worth looking into.

Any reason to think your A/C compressor is bad? I'll be removing mine to make room for my LS2 swap this winter so it's yours if you want it. Again, only if you are currently running R134a -- won't work with R12.

Thanks for all the kind thoughts.

Off hand I can't recall what the A/C was switched too.. I think 134a.

Scheduling anything is a pain or a bust. Between clinic visits, suprise emergencies and my other sons sports activities, I never know how much time I will have available to tackle a project and I don't want to start disassembly of one item and then seemingly never get it back together.

I've read up on all of the items on Clark's garage but still they sit. D'oh! The current motivation is needing garage space come spring.

Sorry about your son Dave. Thoughts to you and your family.

You're definitely missed at the Auto-X's!

Dave,

I'm still inspired by your skills behind the wheel. I've got some experience changing timing belts, seals, etc., and I still have affection for the FEWC cars. Best wishes to your son, and if I can be of some help with the car, just let me know.

Mark
