Default Painting Calipers?

I was thinking of painting the calipers on my track car. I recall there was an article in dV or maybe Pano about doing this, I can't find it...anyone know what issue. Anyone do this? What kind/brand of paint? I recall there's a part about putting it in the oven as well. This obviously doesn't need to be show car prep, just want it to look tidy for a while.

Thanks.

Save yourself a lot of time and money! You don't heat up your brakes much, anyway in that momentum car...

i suggest removing them and doing as good a strip as possible (kurt suggested how to do it in my Carmine thread) then doing the G2 black paint with a clear coat of the VHT high temp. they lost their sheen pretty quickly but have held up al season without issue

I used regular high temp engine paint on the SC calipers. Cleaned some with Brake Clean, rinsed, painted. Looked good for several years. I think the above is right, Kurt had the procedure down pat... if you have the time.

Ooh, they have colors! Finally gonna have some Big Reds.

A lady at Shenandoah had green calipers on her Cayman and green pants to match.

I used the G2 paint kit a couple of years ago when I rebuilt the calipers (big blacks) on the turbo. I scuffed them up, cleaned with brake cleaner and then some lacquer thinner and painted. I remember the two part epoxy paint in the kit sets up quick so you can't putz around. Have everything ready to go and taped up where you don't want any paint to go. It did a good job and they looked great for a couple of years of really hard use and some pretty extreme heat cycles.

Steve, how did you do the silver "PORSHE" - taped, painted then scraped off, painted silver, or something else?

I've never bothered cleaning them myself, too messy and time consuming IMO. I totally disassemble, so it's stripped to the bare caliper body. Sand the outside surfaces lightly, basically anywhere you want paint to stick. Then take the caliper bodies to the machine shop, for a bath in the hot tank. They come back clean enough to eat off of, and ready for the high temp paint of your choice.

George when you do that don't you need all new seals and what not? Do you split them? I thought that was sort of a no no.

This is an appearance improvement not a concours attempt.
