That's a bit farther away than Ashburn
Looks like a great course though. SEG has what they call the "scenario house" which are mock offices, a townhouse and a parking lot. They run you through different attacks and you fight your way to a shooting position. A cool thing they use are modified glocks that shoot paint pellets (they do sting and draw blood!) so you actually get attacked and shoot a real moving target (albeit a heavily padded one). After being thrown around like a rag doll by a 230lb ex-Delta force killing machine I decided the safest way for me to leave my house was with my pistol in one hand and my other hand balled into a fist. Needless to say I will never walk to my car the same way again. http://silvereaglegroup.com/firearms...veryday-carry/

Been having a bit of fun with a Crosman American Classic. However, I bought my pellet trap since I don't have Kurt's mad welding skills. At 25' I can get sub 1 1/2 groups.

I took a one course in Oregon around about 2003.
We went through 1,100 rounds - all handloads, 300+ were 'specialty' loads. I was carrying a Colt Single Action Army, .45 Colt. That was a great, but sore day. The specialty loads were full house blackpowder under a 255 gr LRN. I was a very active Cowboy Action guy and the instructor had a scenario where someone sees you have property they want, and attacks you as you are either unloading gear at the range, or returning home. "What ammo would you have the most of? Use that." I would pay to have a photo of his face when we went through the scenario in simulated closer quarters, low light, and then things got loud and very smoky!

I finally got to shoot several different 9mm p226s and M&Ps last night and it was great fun. I like the look of the p226s, but felt it wasn't as comfortable as the M&Ps (except for the p226 E2 version). The E2 and M&P are probably what will be on my lookout list. I also got to shoot a custom long range rifle and had a lot of fun. I can see myself getting into matches in the future. The Remington 700p, in .308, will also be on my Christmas list. Looks like I'll have to start being extra nice from now on

Any chance to try the new sig 320? Its poly frame like the glock/m&p/etc but has a slight palm swell so doesn't feel like a 2x4. IIRC smaller grip than the alloy framed 226s.
Might want to consider the new Ruger Precision Rifle. A MUCH better precision rifle for about the same street price (<$1k). I have one in 6.5CM (and a Nightforce) on order. Just came out and are little hard to find (esp in 6.5CM) but are slowly starting to show up more and more. The 308 is easier to find but for precision the 6.5CM is a better choice. Match grade ammo is a little cheaper for it too.

I'm still learning about the 6.5CM. I know it's all the rage with the Snipershide guys, but I am not completely on board yet. Maybe soon

The RPR is priced high because currently demand outstrips supply. Once things calm down, it will be sold for less than MSRP just like every other rifle. The pre-orders went for ~$900 and will prob return to that. Sportsmans Outdoor Superstore currently has both the 308 and 243 in stock for $1100 shipped. Gunbroker is full of flippers. If you can wait until christmas things should hopefully calm down further by then.
http://www.sportsmansoutdoorsupersto....cfm/ID/161477 The 700 will never be a RPR no matter what you do to it. There is no stock bedding of a RPR like rifle - ever. Its an evolutionary design. The rifle *IS* the chassis. Mark my words: *ALL* precision rifles will work like it eventually. I'm a *HUGE* 308 fan. But when you look at the avail BCs, it's cartridge OAL jut isn't long enough to fit the high ones (220+gr) w/ enough powder to still push them to reasonable speeds. That takes a mag catridge in 7.62. In a 308 length cartridge the 6.5CM eats its lunch. Then there is the fact that 140gr 6.5 is cheaper than 175gr 308 FGMM. Note: I've never shot a 6.5 round in my life. But I've already bought couple hundred rounds of ammo (plus reloading supplies - Berger 140gr hybrids

If there was a Dorkiphus Club House the walk in closet would look something like this:
