Default New to Dorki

OK, I'm finally back on to Dorki and plan to post regularly. Y'all will have to pardon me, I'm not good at IT stuff, nor am a mechanically inclined, I just love the track and the club, so when I ask dumb questions or otherwise display my ignorance, just bear with me, OK?
Those of you track junkies know me (white '87 911, #13), looking forward to meeting others online (you SHOULD come to the track, that's what your car was made for).
Anyway, I'm looking for a way to bring the shifter knob on my G50 closer to the steering wheel. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Litch

Easy, peasy. Just unscrew the knob from the shifter, and move it as close as you want. You can even tape it to the steering wheel if that helps

Welcome, Tom. Only seeing you at Tech Sessions just hasn't been enough

Welcome!
I'm one of the other rare white run group drivers who shows up in something pre-90's. Not this year mind you, but hopefully next.

I upgraded to a new shifter for my 915 in the 1970T. There are two really good options. The 915 options are much different from the G50, but the quality in the workmanship from both Rennshift & Hargett are topnotch. The Hargett is a bit more racy looking for sure and may get the height you are looking for.

Rennshift:

Hargett:

I went with the Rennshift and love it. It allowed me to get the shifter just where I wanted it. I've seen the Hargett and was torn between the two. Ultimately it came down to a desire to keep the interior a little cleaner and stockish(not really).
