Not what so ever. I think I was talking to you about what I was doing as the car was getting away from me. If I wasn't talking you should have been worried

See what a great instructor can do. Just two days on track and this is what one can achieve with a talented student. I recall being your instructor before, what's your problem

Also, you might want to let her know she is out of gas next time.
Yea. I had to pit twice over the weekend for lack of fuel. Once I watched every lap just to get all I could out of the gas I had!

Would have loved to see both your hands (or perhaps not) but great framing of the track ahead.
I tried to setup the interior side view camera but my old Hero I think has hit it's end of life. I also have to much padding on the roll cage on the passenger side. Couldn't find a good place to mount the camera to. Maybe I should remove a lot of that padding

John V,

Nice - Looks like the engine rebuild was a success. Thanks again for the ride along and the tips. I should have done it on Saturday so I could have practiced "paint abuse" more. I think that tip alone was worth a second.

Sounds like it's time to upgrade to something a bit more capable than Traqmate. Seriously though, with your skill/pace you'd really see a massive benefit from something like AIM.

And thanks a bunch for sharing. What a ride -- I admit to having watched the entire video. Hard to tell: are you flat-out thru T2? My guess was that you were when I was trying to follow you (T1-5 are the only parts of the track I have a chance of keeping up with you).

How can we get the hi-res version of this?

I'm trying to upload my video of the 2:16 in traffic but there seems to be something wrong with that clip. I was able to upload a previous video of some yawn-inducing 2:18's without issue, but that's not interesting. That 2:16 looked to be on pace for a high 2:14/low 2:15 ( ), were it not for the traffic (esses, bus stop, and T10). Either way, I'm happy -- definitely felt good out there. Boy, a 2:14 in a full-weight street 951 would've been very satisfying for me indeed! I'm not ruling out the possibility there is something wrong with the video...

It really is. Just the camber gain in T1 alone is massive -- you can pick up 0.2 G's just by taking all of the curb on the inside.

I do not think 'street' means what you think it means

You have to actually DRIVE it there and back on the same tires to be a 'street' car. Also, must have cup holders

Glad you asked me out. I wish I would have thought to take you out for a ride along. Next time...

As I mentioned, you'd gain probably 4+ seconds if you didn't break so early also. That's where you were loosing a lot of time. Your cornering speed and car control was very good. Your BMW is an amazing well balanced machine.

I'm going to hold off unit I rebuild the motor then move to a MoTec M64 ECU and CDL data system. For the time being I'll stick w/ my old school Hero2 and Traqmate.

I need to grow a larger set of attachments into T-2. I'm probably ~75-80% throttle at turn-in then 100% at the track out all the way into the braking zone before the bus stop.

Jim, the 993 G50/30 box has helped, it's a little short for the snake section at VIR. The steel syncos and LSD make a noticeable difference in terms of feel. That said, I have better acceleration everywhere else although my top speed is about 3mph slower with the RS/CS aero, but I'm much faster and stable up the Esses. Three weeks ago at VIR I knocked out a 2:06.3 in 95 degree weather!

Now that I'm back on 275s I'll be running the entire track (WG) in 3rd and 4th since 4th goes to 140/1 - which means lug city in most corners as mentioned. 3rd goes to around 105-ish w/ 275s so my RPMs at 60-62mph in a few corners are <3,900 but 2nd is to low. Maybe I need to try some 15s.

Nice time at VIR!

I really like my TM which I consider data for dummies and it has helped me quite a bit. I only had an issue with it once which was at the VIR race last year and that was when we attempted a hardware upgrade (those never seem to work right). Andre at TM was good at getting it worked out and was fixed for my next event. I really like the new-ish display also / Traqdash.
