Overall a good safe weekend. I only got to drive once but that was ok. This was the boy's graduation present from me. Got to ride with him the first two sessions on Friday and coached him on the finer points and got him started with no bad habits. He picked up speed and smoothness as the weekend progressed. He ended up with a 2:21.1 (which would have qualified him P3 in SP2 three weeks earlier). Very happy with his ability to adapt to a fast track and keep himself in check. Thanks to all who have made him feel part of the group.

He posted his fast lap....

Awesome lap Robbie - Steve, he had me convinced he was running 2:18 - 2:19's out there....but in the end, it just made
me drive that much harder....haha!

Now I'll just be a little more skeptical....haha!

I love everything about the Glen.

Considering how many drivers and how many new to Potomac drivers we had, I thought the weekend went extremely well. Yes, some trains in red/black/white but no where near as bad as other full events like Zone 2 VIR. As usual, it only takes 1-2 drivers in a run group to disrupt the flow. White did very well with great cooperation between the varied speeds and having to deal with a lot more cars than usual. However, I was really disappointed to track down the few bad passing and generally asshatery drivers only to discover they were instructors running in white; no surprise they were the same drivers causing frustrations in red/black. I am pretty confident most of the drivers that are regulars in our program today will not be "that guy/girl" when they move up through the ranks.

Several of the newly promoted to white are good examples and they blended right in with good pace, awareness and predictability. Thanks and congrats! The smile on Otto's face Saturday night was priceless!

Thanks to all the volunteers and the Ruby catering company for the great happy hours.

Guess I need to trade his race car for a fishing pole!

Forgot to mention (where are my manners) : I'm extremely excited my buddy (and student, as it turned out) Jason was promoted to White with flying colors. Many thanks to Brian for fitting him in so early.

Perhaps the most fun I had all weekend was riding shotgun while Jason chased down LITERALLY EVERYTHING in his cute little Miata. Dude can drive.

Speaking of which, that reminds me of another quote that Martin left out of his list earlier: "In my defense for being the source of those trains, I'm only working with 270 hp!"

I wish we could all stay on the track @ the Glen for a week!! Awesome time & thanks to all volunteers for making it possible. Congrats to all promotions also.

Appreciated Dirk, Brian & Tom M for jumping in the car with me this weekend, thanks. Car feels good & their reinforcement & push resulted in picking up 4 seconds. Also very fun in Tom's car going topless with the arm straps....thanks for the ride along T, your driving is awesome.

Seneca joke off was more impromptu this year but a blast anyway, group contribution

Funniest crack was at dinner Saturday night with Nader & Carolyn by their son....too funny to post here without parental approval!! May have to invite him to Seneca Tavern in a few years to join in.
