Ted, come over and drive my 993 with a LWF and RS clutch. There is NO lag. It revs like a motorcycle. RJ has a twin of my car with a TPC supercharger on it. I've driven it and it's just jail bait. Postmark got his 993 for $25k and it's almost as nice as mine. If you can find such a deal, add $10k for the supercharger and you've got a car that will kill any 930 for about the same money as the nicest 930.

Talking Have you thought of this?

T-
your welcome to come over and try my lawnmower. Im sure w/ a seat, turbocharger, supercharger, fetzer valve upgrade and a box of rubberbands it will blow the doors off any 993 c2s or 930.

It's the excitment of the chase not the kill.

Most everyone is speaking only of the engine on the 930 platform. Make a list of all the great mods needed to make a 911 a great track car....
Turbo calipers (917 or Big Reds), upgraded rotors, turbo/RSR trailing arms, turbo grade Bilstein suspension, turbo flares for big track tires, turbo tail for down force, turbo... the list goes on.

When I started my '73E to RSR conversion my first choice for the powerplant was a 930 engine. I planned to use 3.2 intake with EFI, headers, K-27, 98mm Andial Piston & Cylinders and custom cams to help overcome the dreaded "turbo lag". The engine is now ready to assemble. Then three weeks ago I found, or rather it found me (thanks Andy), a mint 930 3.3L with euro fuel system, B&B headers/exhaust, 917 calipers, wide-band O2/AFR, K-27 turbo etc... and no longer have worries about "lag". It is so much more than I ever expected. The boost starts about 2700rpm and then the Porsche gods smile upon you. Even in third gear the rear tires break loose about 3800rpm. I realize that too much is never enough in HP wars but I'm now quite content with a combustion engine for the first time in my life.

I raced motorcycles for several years so I imagine the 930 turbo on the track will be like my Yamaha GP TZ250 two stroke. You just "stay on the pipe" and hold on for dear life with much corner speed and high rpm's. The 993 must be more like my V-twin Ducati's with a point and shoot style spinning up the rear comming out of the corners. I hope to soon find out first had at a DE event.

The 930 engine is a great platform. If it turns out that you hate the turbo then drop it and pull the pistons for a set of high comp pistons and a set of '78 big port SC head/cams with carbs or an EFI set up and you'd still have all of the RSR/Turbo goods that make the 930 so desireable.

I've not had the pleasure of driving a 993 so I can only rave about the 930's.

Count another vote for Ted's 930 adventure.

Don Newton, I won't let the boys at the compound down. If I show up at Mc P's I'll buy the first round!
Slant is the way to go! Factory slant! I know of a black 87 factory Slant with 30K miles on it but he refuses to sell it to me.

I agree with Mat P, but of course I'm a little biased towards 85 Euro Carreras. Todd, if you ever get that chateau in Bordeaux...

Vu, do you know the seller of this car? The only thing that is odd is the 8" rear Fuchs. Original 930S's came with 9"s on the back while standard 930's came with 8"s. Not that that's a deterrent at all. This car is exactly what I'm looking for. It would make a good starting platform.
