Default Vertex auto parts ok?

I need to order a clutch--Pelican and Vertex both offer 3 piece clutch kits.

Both are OEM Sachs with clutch disk, pressure plate, and throw-out bearing.

Pelican are asking $791.50 versus $599 from Vertex.

I've never ordered from Vertex, but if the parts are Sachs, it's a no brainer to save $192.50.

I've priced other Porsche pats suppliers and no one, other than Pelican, can come close to the Vertex price.

Is this too good to be true?

p.s. parts like the pilot bearing, fork update, guide tube, bolts, at Pelican are half what Vertex charges.

My one experience ordering from Vertex was positive.

Default Vertex is ok, but also try Parts Heaven

I've had good pricing and products from Vertex (oil filters, air filters, etc.). However, I've had price matches and better for new & used parts from Parts Heaven (800-767-7250). I've worked with Al there to get great pricing on Zimmerman cross-drilled rotors; Mintex sport brake pads; replacement antenna motor; turbo tie-rods; etc. (http://www.partsheaven.com/)

Another good resource has been The Parts Bin (www.thepartsbin.com). I worked with Mike at 888-628-3247 x310. (mike@alloempartsinc.com) They have free shipping for everything over $50.

Vertex runs hot and cold for me. One example I ordered six brake rebuild kits from them and none were right. To counter this I’ve also order many items that have turned out as advertised. We joke that there prices combined with their location = corporate headquarters in Central America. More likely they just operate a low rent, no frills organization

I have had less than stellar experiences with Vertex. Won't use them again.

Have never had a problem with Vertex...can't say that for Pelican.

I wasn't pleased with the quality of their aftermarket rubber gaskets and seals. I had to return my quarter window seals, the quality was bad. In the end I went to the dealer.

I've had several positive experiences, but haven't ordered from them this year.
Beware their online prices aren't updates regularly, so be sure to ask what the price is. I found out the hard way.

I guess I'll take a chance and phone in an order.

Unless they are outright dishonest and send me parts made in Vietnam, the parts should have Sachs printed or stamped on them.
