At least 4 (I think 5) went off (and stayed) during last group of the sprint races. Here are 2 pics from turn 7. Drivers all ok, but cars might need some work. First car hit tire wall, went air born a couple feet, landed, then caught fire underneath. Guess they're pushing a bit harder than I do in DE

That guy to the right with the fire bottom is our very own OldT! He came alllll the way from stage right (T-7) lugging that !@#$%^&*()_+ fire bottle!! Nice response (no insults)

Kudos to OldT for seeing it and heading to the accident first. I watched from the stands as he tucked a fire bottle under his arm and ran from turn 7 station to the incident at turn 8, 100+ yards with 25 lbs of ballast. Adreniline does wonders for a fellow.

2nd pic, lower left, our very own Photo Editor taking a picture of something else entirely. I wonder if he knew cars were headed his way...

I see a safety technique problem in the top photo. Corner workers--please don't turn your back to the track. If one car can run off the track at that point, it is likely another can do the same. If it is possible, keep the car between you and the track. When there are two or more workers at an incident one should be the lookout for the others, watching traffic for those working on the fire (not casually chatting w/ spectators at the fence). Cars have a big advantage over people. Safety is a team's responsibility to each individual member.
