Try the Eastern Shore of Maryland, unfortunately, still Maryland but better than a lot of areas. Talbot County (Easton, St Michaels ,Oxford all really nice, just a little over an hour to DC or Baltimore, Annapolis 40 minutes, Rehobeth, Dewey Beach etc just over an hour. Weather a bit better than DC and Baltimore.
Besides I live here and am in Real Estate!!

Having grown up in Southern California I'm partial to San Diego especially coastal north county Encinitas and Solana Beach are great areas. The year around climate, coastline, active lifestyle is tough to beat and it's not too small where you'd get cabin fever. Lots to see and do. I'll be heading out there this week for some r&r.

Only downside is it ain't cheap, but like with anything you get what u pay for.

YES! I'd get the F out of MoCo MD. We're planning for it...

To: somewhere w/ mountains and 100+ acres of land (preferably a mountain.) Parts of WVa look nice as does Colorado, Wyoming, etc. (though some of those are pretty cold.) Prob couldn't pay me enough to move to CA.

Playing this game w/L now. Nearing retirement, still mostly healthy, pretty much meet Chris's criteria. Looked at CA (LA Beaches, San Jose), Chester Town on eastern shore. Winchester, Frederick, couple places in mid/western PA. Even thought about living overseas in a couple places for like 6 months at a time. More $$$ = more choices.

Like to do some racing but that doesn't seem to be in the grand plan anymore. Maybe a couple of arrive and drive a year would scratch that particular itch. Maybe a boat hobby in my fall and winter years, maybe, maybe, this thread really sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd stay where I am because of extended family in the area (and the tracks!), otherwise lots of nice places to choose from: Seattle, San Francisco, LA, Juneau, Manhattan, London, Paris, Vienna, Rome, Florence, Oxford, Chicago ...

Around 50' of well found boat, re-rigged for solid single handing from the cockpit, and I'd be taking any family that would sign up for the adventure of their lives. Older kids are at that stage where working on their careers would make it hard, but they'd be up for arrive and sail trips along the way. Twins would be all over it, and at a perfect age to see that the world is a magical place.
