Pete Stout's editor's column in this month's Panorama is about the rapid run-up in prices for longhoods. Jibes with my observations, too, in run-ups of prices in all air-cooled p-cars.

Had someone knock on my door and ask to buy one I have that is cowering under a tarp trying to hide from the anticipated ham fisted mechanical malfeasance to be administered in my little shop of horrors. He was at $20k before knowing much about the car other than "Longhood Porsche under a tarp".

Jumping the gun a bit. Definitly not sold as an e-mail is not the same as cash in hand. Will likely have to get a PPI done and like every tech inspection somthing will be discovered. Do have 4 serious enquiries and not budging on the price much. I know I will regret selling it, but it's unquestionable the smart thing to do.

Wow. I know it's inevitable, but at some point precious cars drift into a price range where they don't get driven anymore (kind of like the $5,000 bottle of wine that only has value as something to sell and not as something to drink). 911s should ALWAYS be driven!

Greg, Thats a big part of my decision. Would love to do DE's, especially with my fresh engine but it's too nice and god forbid I wreak it.

Have my eye on an 89, Turbo Look, Carerra. Last of the air cooled.
