I just got confirmed to the BMW club DE at Summit March 1st and 2nd. Anyone ever do an event with them before? I heard they are well run and similar to ours with skid pad time. I thought I would do an event at a more familiar track and shake the new car down locally. 3 weeks, I can't wait

Watch out. Most of them have front engine water pumpers. But seriously, National Capital Chapter runs great schools with far fewer cars on trailers. Skidpad is mandatory so unfortunately you might not get as much time as with Potomac PCA, but nearly all the Potomac skidpad instructors are BMW CCA NCC instructor academy graduates.

I am happy to do skid pad normally and am really looking to do it even more with the 'new' car to see how it handles, when and how easily it will break lose, etc.
A little over 100 signed up with only one other 911 for that event so there will be plenty of track room verses 219 signed up for VIR two weeks later. And I am not afraid of any stinkin' water pumpers either!

I will instruct, but I just can't my mind around heading to the track yet. My mind is on hitting the slopes still!

They have me as new or something since I have not driven with them for two years (or ever), their policy, so try to get me as a student!

I suspect Bob will be instructing at the skidpad.
Plus without that 996 power, and having been away from the track for a while, you'll probably be at Green Group speeds anyway (BTW, you may be able to get one of the PCAP Chief Instructors to write the BMW club a note about your experience so they consider starting you at least one group up)

Yeah right, like I ever really went faster then the Green Group before anyway. I just gave passes and they kept moving me up!
Honestly I don't mind starting mid grouping but the basement would suck. I might take you up on that idea. Thanks.

BMW CCA is a good club, I've done DEs with them. A limitation compared to other clubs, at least with the three chapters I tried, is that they don't have a solo non-instructor group, you're either a student or instructor. And there's no extended passing in any of the student groups.

NCC groups by relative speed. So they will look at your experience (and experience on Main Circuit) and car when placing you. But they won't know your skills. They may well hook you up with an instructor who drives a 911, about a half dozen at this point.

That sounds like a good plan to me.
