Default how many versions of 3.2SS are there?

Hi everyone,
i went to Intersport to see a friend there and also to see if Charlie has a set of good 3.2 barrels laying around. When Charlie asked me what do i intend to do with the 3.2 barrels, i told him that i like to built a 3.2SS engine with a 3.0L case and crank, JE 98mm pistons, and 3.2 cylinders. He said that it's not how you build a 3.2SS. According to Charlie at Intersport, i'll need a set of 100mm pistons, 3.4L barrels, and 3.0L case and cranks. Does this sounds right to anyone?. According to my research, to do a 3.2SS, i'll need the 98mm JE pistons, 3.2L barrels, 3.0 case and cranks. Could there be more than one version of banging out a 3.2SS with 3.0L case and cranks?. Andy

Commonly the 3.2SS is a 70.4mm Crank and 98mm pistons. The 100mm pistons would give you a 3.3SS. The 3.4 barrels as described would be 98mm and the pistons would not fit. I am not aware of any other way to build one.

Thanks Jamie,
I've also heard that you can use the 3.0L Alusil (bored out to 98mm and Nikasil re-plated) barrels. However, I called EBS and they said that they are strongly against it becuase the barrels will be weaker after it was bored out. Do you of anyone who has had good luck with a 3.0L bored out, replated Alusil barrels in a 3.2SS conversion?. Andy

100mm pistons
With these, you are walking the razors edge of needing twin plug ignition. Most 'in the know' say twin plugs are essential with 100mm or above to prevent detonation, but some some have used single plugs w/o issue (so far).

Makes sense. EBS would know.
I think Mahle used to make make a 3.2 kit with 98mm P/C's called the Max Mortiz. Sometimes you can find these on PP or ebay, but probably a bit pricy. I don't know much about a SS-3.2, but some calling around and talking to reputable shop (Rennsport Systems, Competition Engineering, etc) can put you on the right track.

LNengineering offers custom billet Nikasil plated cylinders with matched JE pistons fr a variety of applications.
