Since there are a few computer types on this board I thought I might run this by you.
I just got FIOS (finally) and I've got an issue. The wireless function just stops working every few hours. It's like it has a timeout function or something. I have to reboot the router a few times a day. The ethernet connected stuff all works just fine. It's just the wireless. I'll be surfing away for a few hours and then it will just quit. It's not device specific either. It stops allowing internet access for my Tivo, Windows LT, MacBook, Nooks and ipads. Everything. This is the second router at this point. Any ideas?

We have Verizon DSL and have the exact same problem and so do several people I have talked to. Several calls to customer service have not solved the issue yet. They suck. Looking into Comcast cable modems now.

I see a place to turn off the wireless radio. CAn I just connect my old Cisco router and use that instead?

Yep, you only need the router if you have the TV service. But even if you need to keep the router for TV, you don't have to use the wireless part of it. I used a Linksys wireless access point for years instead of the FIOS ActionTek wireless, and recently upgraded to an Apple AirPort Extreme for faster wifi.

We have the FiOS router (for several years now) and other than an occasional outage, no issues. We have triple-play so need the router, but we use the wireless function on it too without issues.

My wife and I suffer from several outages daily. It's very annoying, and seems to worse in DC than when we lived in nova. The service outages are so bad that I went to Comcast and swapped out our router, that worked great for two months then bam we have to reset the router two to three time daily...

I had the same issue. Fixed it by purchasing my own wireless router and using it for all of the internal and wireless connections in my house. I still use the old one as the border router, but haven't needed to reboot it in months. Root of the problem is the Actiontec router that Verizon uses.

I appreciate the replies.
It seems that this morning the wireless is still working. That's a first. I'll see how today goes.
