Default Reconfiguring console

I would like to reconfigure my upper and lower console so with the radio is on the top slot followed by the climate control in the upper console and on the lower, have 2 storage bin/shelf on the lower. It is currently configured with cup holder, radio, cd holder and climate controller on the bottom.

Do I need any brackets, face plates, etc to make this happen?

Would be hard to tell in advance of dismantling it.

You might want to check the PET diagrams and see what parts are available. I would be concerned that the cables for the climate control may not reach.

It should be pretty easy. You may need a new trim plate for the climate control. would you be willing to part with the trim plate from the current climate control (as I'd like to move my down to the lower slot in the lower console)? Also, if you'd be willing to part with your cupholder, I'd gladly take that off your hands!

I'm doing this project right now on my '97 boxster. The original setup had the 6 cd holder on the bottom, which was completely useless to me

I stipped the center console out

relocated the A/C to the bottom

And since the top opening is now 2 1/2 din tall, I bought a cup holder from a Jetta to fit under the stereo

Ready for a 2 din head unit to go in, but I'm still deciding what I want to get

I didn't take any yet, since the cupholder is not mounted properly. I tested it and while it does obscure the A/C display, it doesn't touch it. Here are some pics from ebay:

I will have to pull the console apart to figure out what parts my be reused and if if the wire harness is long enough first. If I can make the reconfiguration happen, I will PM you.

The harness will be long enough, just barely. You might have to dremel away some of the back support to make it easier to push the plugs through.
