Default DE Volunteer Opportunity

Here’s your opportunity to make a difference in the lives of young adults from low-income homes while enjoying a fun DE weekend at Summit Point. On Saturday, July 20, Potomac PCA is hosting 20 young adults aged 10-18 and six Stafford Junction staff members and we are looking for volunteers to help with this event.

Our guests will arrive at 10:00AM and depart at 3:00PM. During their visit, we’ll show them the track from various vantage points (start tower, Turn 10 tower, Turn 5 stands, pit out, etc.), take them on parade laps, and host them for lunch. The goal is to have fun and provide these underprivileged kids an opportunity to learn about the group effort it takes to put DE weekends together and the individual efforts participants put forth to arrive ready to drive during the weekend.

As a volunteer, you’ll have full latitude to spend the time with your guest as you wish with lunch and the parade laps being the only scheduled events during the day. We need many more volunteers to avoid doubling up kids with volunteers so please consider giving some time to a young adult. The experience is guaranteed to benefit both of you and you may leave a lasting impression on your guest.

Please give this opportunity serious consideration. Even if you weren't planning to drive at the July DE, but, live nearby and want to help, please do. We would appreciate your response by 16 July so that we can plan to make this weekend a success.

If you know of anyone you think would be interested that won’t see this post, please forward this to them and pass on my number.

Thanks, Chip Taylor, 757-650-4347

This sounds like a great program. Thanks for putting it together.

I will be driving and instructing at the DE. I guess this does not allow much free time to help with the program, does it?

I won't be driving at that event, and at the moment do not plan to Instruct Only; if that is the case, I should be able to help out. Will send a PM to coordinate.

Jim,

We really need volunteers, but, if you're instructing, you'll be busy during that time. Is there a chance you would be available at 12:00 to take one of the children on the parade laps?

Thanks for responding and if you don't mind beating the bushes for more volunteers if you know of other folks going to the DE who aren't instructing.

Cheers, Chip

An additional note - we are going to have 2 adult volunteers per child, so you will not lose any track time and this will not dominate your day.

That will help a lot. In that case, Chip, I'm in.

Jim,
Tried to send you a PM, can't see it in Sent mail.

Anyhow, let me know if you're available to drive the parade laps 12:00 - 12:30 on Saturday
