That'd be a great idea. Another way to capture the market. I'm not sure there's anyone that likes going to Radial's shop.

I am going to miss them. I have purchased 4 sets of rear tires from them. Always on time and provided a good value.

Perhaps too good a value. Good service and a wanted product still needs to have some profit in order to be worth making a busness out of. I can see where the overhead costs of mobile could be far above the fixed shop format.

If this were the case, then why didn't they just raise their prices? The convenience factor of coming to me was by itself worth a hefty price!

Since the site is still up, has this news been confirmed btw?

Here's what I received in the email:

Parting is never easy. So it is with mixed emotions that I am writing to let you know that AutoSquad has closed its doors.
If you have a service issue, we recommend contacting Virginia Tire and Auto at 888-828-5579.
We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate you being an AutoSquad customer.

Sincerely,
Beth VanStory
President & CEO, AutoSquad
I didn't know Tirevan had changed name to AutoSquad but I assumed it was them when I got the email.

Too bad. Used them a couple of times -- so much more convenient than going to a tire shop.

Tough business model though. You have a have a huge customer base to stay busy all day, every day, when your average customer only needs your service once every couple of years at most.

Never used them, but last visit to Radial Tire (during weekday) lasted 3 hours. I think only way is to drop off tires and wheels and pick up later - although that entails two trips and ability to jack up entire car, remove and remount tires, retorque, etc. I also do not believe Paul is interested in expanding to a delivery and mount type of operation, although he does deliver to many shops who do balance and mount and install.
