Just got a blast email saying Auto Squad (formally Tire Van) has closed their doors
I must have ESPN though (thanks, Comcast!), as something told me to have Omar get me a new set of RA1s when I dropped my car at Intersport earlier today...

I didn't realize they had changed their name. I wonder what prompted that?
I only used them once. Great service. The crew was running ahead of schedule and called to ask if they could come early. Perfect. Their floor jack had a nice big rubber pad on it to protect the car, and they even used a real torque wrench to torque all the lugs to factory spec. IMO it was a worthwhile service to avoid a trip to the tire shop.

Bummer. That was really convenient. I'd leave the car in question in my driveway and return to new tires, with a small premium over TireRack.

Name change was prompted by an increase in service to cover vehicle maintenance. Could be what led to their demise.

I used them once, when they were Tire Van. But the next time I called, Damascus MD was no longer in their service area.
![]() I thought the name change happened because they merged with some other company, but I'm not 100% sure.

This is too bad! My first set of new tires was with them. Great service and I hoped to use them again.

Maybe a Tire Van-type operation will rise from the ashes. No doubt the market is there. Radial should expand into it -- kinda like DC restaurants getting into the food truck business.

The business folded a month or two ago. Talked to Taran about it. They had terrific customer response in that everybody who used them liked the service & pricing, but could not get enough volume despite spending a lot of marketing money.
Another great small company that didn't make it through the growth phase.

I go the email too. Neat idea, but obviously, not profitable enough. Maybe PCA Potomac should buy one of the trucks for track days!
