OK, dorki TD in DC has a new avatar and I understand it has a cool story behind it? If he posted something about it I missed it. And haven’t checked REN List where I understand he has been a prolific contributor (<2000 since ‘04 ). So lets hear it. It’s OK to brag when you have a plaque to back it up

Ops! He’s changed it again but how about the one before this one? I already know the origin of “speed racer” and I wouldn’t bother telling him about the bridge being out!

Aaahahhhhh how the Internet doesn't let you get away with anything . . . Since receiving the "Most Improved Student" award from PCA Potomac, I have been the recipient of an unending stream of grief from the Dorki faithful. I wasn't there to receive the award, but I began hearing about it that night before I had even received it (or knew that it existed). Ted told me that I was going to receive an award. When he told me that, I was really worried. I couldn't imagine what it would be.

The first thing that popped to mind was that I might receive the "Mr. Train" award or something similar since I used to line up 10 to 15 minutes before run times just so that I could avoid trains.

The next thing that popped to mind was that it might be the award for the scariest driver since I had spun twice over the weekend already.

So I begged Ted to tell me what the award was. He told me that I had received the award for the "Most Improved Student." I immediately understood the significance of the award: Since I obviously still am a lousy driver, I must have been the most horrific driver of the bunch when I started this whole DE thing last November.

Well, since then, certain Dorki faithful have been relentless in their ridicule. They claim that I received the award because I was the most proficient at seeking and obtaining the attention of the PCA brass, which is funny since I didn't even know PCA distributed any awards (or I obviously would have sucked up even more). Others claimed that I "bought" the award by bringing a higher HP modern car with PSM to DEs and using it as a crutch to get through the lower run groups, and then switching to the 944 once I got to the White group. When a few other Dorki found out I took the award to my office, the ridicule increased, with some people claiming that I loved the award to such a degree that it was "untoward" or, as some claimed, "unclean."

After the noise reached a certain level, I decided that a protest avatar was in order so, I took a "protest" picture and made it into my avatar. I left it up for a few days as a joke, but I eventually took it down because I didn't want anyone who didn't understand the joke behind the picture to take it the wrong way. It was directed at a few Dorki in particular . . . and they know who they are Also, I am not really comfortable with pictures of myself on the Internet. It is bad enough that my wife and my family have to see my ugly mug, let alone the rest of the world.

Since you really want to see what it was, I have attached it below. No disrespect intended to anyone (except the jealous Dorki bastards who can't deal with the fact that I have seriously Mad Skillz)

Yeah Todd, you're right. I admit we're all jealous about your 'Mad Skillz'. But, to demonstrate how proud we really are .... I cross posted the above pic on Rennlist.

Just saw the Rennlist post, Greg, and if Todd thinks the Dorki were merciless then the fun is just about to begin!

Great stuff Todd. Can't imagine a fellow better able to carry the burden of peer envy that will surely arise from such a high honor. This looks like good sport!

Thanks Todd, was wondering. Too funny As another poor driver who has not even made it to a DE yet, I'll say congrats.
