Sure, start over. I installed one on mine, replaced all the bushes including the coupler and had no problems.

Will do. This Saturday Tito helped getting the clutch cable replaced and getting the foot pedal rebuilt. The short shifter was already installed but still needs proper adjustment. cant wait to get all done adjusted accordingly and taking the car out for a test.

Project on the works- RS interior carpet replacement, door panels, (sound deadning interior first)....

In the shift coupler area, mark (with a Sharpie) how far the female part covers the splines, then loosen the coupler at the spines (use 2 13mm wrenches). Don't loosen too much...

Now (helps to have a helper or a bungee cord) push the shifter all the way towards the drivers door, and then turn the shift coupler all the way towards the passenger's door. For perfect adjustment, I move mine back just one tiny spline's worth, then tighten there. That should fix your problem.

Sounds like you are off sideways, and in 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th in the trans. and at the shifter between 3 -4 and 5 - R. You need to lose the coupler and try what Dr K said.

Good luck.

Ok, attached a bungee cord to the shifter on neutral towards the driver side and the coupling loose. Manually moved the coupling towards the passenger side and tighten the nut. Done! Perfect setting! Took it for a drive and the new short shifter, new bushings and the pedal cluster completely redone with a new clutch cable. New car experience! Thank you.

Good job. Is this a great site or what! BTW, I seem to remember that this suggestion came from the Bentley manual originally.
