Chris - That car has been for sale forever (I even considered using it as a starting point for my build). He had emailed me about maybe converting it to a race car. It's a typical DE-er modifying the crap out of a car to go "faster" with no foresight. Car with no mods would start in Stock I. Most the other mods would put it in J (against 996 gt3s, where it would lose). But the close ratio gear box puts it in GT classes where it would get demolished. Nice DE car, but no way to mod or unmod it, to make it a competitive PCA race car. Charlie keeps his check, and he and I are still happy.

Also prices of mods are highly inflated ...center radiator $1,600...I paid $250 for the kit, and took about 2hrs to install. Front nose and splitter $4,500...can be had for 1/2 that. Etc....

agreed, some of his quotes looked a bit outrageous. still, it looks good to the "ridiculously stuck on the slippery slope" DE-er like me. and oh hush up BMAN, i dont want to hear it! i'll get a GT when i am good and ready to ask my wife for permission!

Classic DE slippery slope build. I suspect his mod costs were lifted right from his shop bills.

Chris, you want a race car, get a real race car for a lot less: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2006-...#ht_861wt_1184

Had the car at VIR today to get some more seat time in it before the Watkins Glen CR. Good news is, first session while still only going at it at about 90%, beat the class record by 1/2 second. Bad news is, at end of session, motor blew for no apparent reason. New crate motor showing up on Weds.
