During the first session, I never seemed to kick it on, and thought I must be really driving smooth. But there's a couple of places it comes on without much effort, like coming out of 6a. Early in the second session I was chasing Tuffy, and coming down the front straight the info display put up a see workshop message. I clicked the info level for the next screen and it was a message about the cornering lights not functional. Meh, who cares, I thought. But braking into turn one, the right rear tire locked up, it was like there was no ABS. Came in and plugged in my durameteric cable and the car was full of faults. After three passes of the clear faults in all modules function, the car had no faults. I left the SoloDL disconnected, and went out for the last session. This time SC+TC came on, and the car felt normal and no workshop messages. So I need to call AIM to see what they say, but obviously the SoloDL was messing with the network in the car. Durameteric cable paid for itself!
Todd, Nice seeing you at VIR. If you learn anything from AIM please share. I had my AIM Solo tapped into the CAN bus and I was always leery if that was causing my braking issues. I removed the tap a while ago but still had the braking issues afterwards (last year). I'll probably be putting it back before the next event. Have you upgraded to the latest firmware? I see that an update came out in Feb 2013.

My AIM Solo didn't work well at VIR. First time it had problems recording laps. It only captured about 30% of them. Never had that problem at other tracks. Seemed like it was connected to enough satellites. I may try your mount point next time and see if that alleviates the issue.

Manny, Tom and their crew put a lot of effort into the Zone 2 event and it showed, great weekend! Huge turnout and, from what I could tell, there were very few driver or mechnical issues. Good way to kickstart the season.

Can you add the remote GPS antena? Had similar problems with SmartyCam until I added an antena.

If you cannot, you should be able to test the signal strength and relocate if needed.

Brian -- what GPS antenna do you use? Currently using a Qstarz 5Hz unit but haven't been able to find alternatives that weren't proprietary to certain DAQ systems (AIM, Motec, etc.).

I am running the latest released firmware. I heard AIM has some new firmware for 997.2 GT3, since the gateway is a bit different then the 997's. I didn't have any issue with the satellites (always had 7-9), the mount I have is the PanaVise InDash 75132-105.

Nope, the solo is internal antenna only. It does have a screen that shows what the sats are being picked up.

I currently have two installed because my dash won't integrate with SmartyCam without a factory rewire. So one is connected to the AIM dash and the other to SmartyCam.

Surprising that it's internal only. Smarty has an internal too but I had reception issues depending on the track.

I don't think it will measure the lap when you go hot through Hogpen and end up 40 ft. off in the grass as you go by Start/Finish

Well... there were those comments from the CI at the BMW Race school! But they may not have been discussed quite as much here as in other forums. yet
