Default New-to-me 2002 996 - help with HPDE track setup?

Hi all - I just picked up an 80k mile fresh engined 996. Once it's all broken in and I have some seat time around town in it, I plan to track it. My wife and I are both instructors so we'll co-drive the car quite hard but probably on nothing stickier than R888 or equivalent. We plan to start off on street tires.

I pulled the oil pan per the engine builder's suggestion to clean it out post-rebuild and it appears someone already installed the X51 (GT3) oil pan with the metal risers and rubber one-way baffles.

I've also seen deep sump kits (basically extensions), oil filter adapters, etc.

I don't want to get crazy but are there any things I should be doing to the oil system other than the GT3 oil pan that will extend the life of my fresh engine?

Beyond that, it has the standard brakes. Should I consider upgrading to a larger rotor and/or caliper or are the stock brakes sufficient with track pads?

IMHO, stock rotors & calipers should be fine with performance track pads (PF, Hawk, Pagid, etc). Pads will be very dusty and wheels will suffer. May want to try some different pads over time to see which perform to your liking; some have different "bite", some have different "feel", and some are harder on rotors.

You and wife should be fine, but definitely need better than stock street pads and expect significant wear on rotors with Hawks,Pagids etc.
