What you have to remember about turn 14 (Roller Coaster) is that you MUST ATTACK that turn. If you lie back and take it easy at turn-in, you'll never be fast there. The same goes for turn 16. By attacking 16, you'll find yourself off camber as you scoot down the inside of the turn, BUT you establish a great line through 16a and 17 that really turns into a nice sweeper, and allows increasing throttle application (translating into much faster turn-out speeds and a much faster turn 1 entry). The best adage I can pass to you is an autocrosser adage: "Turn into the turn when you can see into the turn." For 14 and 16, these really work. Could go on and on, but you'd probably get very bored, very quickly, and fall asleep at your work desks. Hasta. . .

I think G&W is offering a two-day weekend event at VIR the week before that. It's expensive if you're a greenie like me and need an instructor, but you big boys could have fun for a lot less dough.

Don, I hear you. I think I got the nerve and hang for 16 and 17 by Sunday, particularly after Tony's insistence that I just go for it. It definitely works better when you throttle through it. However, for me 14 was even more intimidating. I'm going to have to work at that one.

That's strange. I guess I wasn't logged in when I posted previous. I didn't know one could do that.

Yep, good catch Bill. Gotta tweak the premissions on this new Fourm.

It's so much fun reading your VIR war stories here on the Dorki-board. It's infectious...I just signed up for the Zone 2 HPDC in October. That'll make my third HPDC. Ya think I can make Blue run group just running the Jefferson circuit.

Jim,
I got to use alot of the stuff they taught me at the HPDC. I think the skid pad evolution was the most informative. I wish I could do it this time but that will be my moving weekend. Finally, a garage.

The skidpad is great, particularly with the 911. The thing to remember is to experiment with the throttle, not the brakes.

Jim, Zone 2 is running a 1-day DE at Summit on Columbus Day, I believe the day after the HPDC. I'm going. Anyone else?

Jim You need to get on the big track. Sign up for the Monday and get a tast of what the other dorki converts have. (HeHeHe. My evil plan to make you all into track junkies just like me is working as planned!)
