What's impressive (IMHO) about Trackdaze is not the liberalization of on-track action, but their recent (2012) focus on specialized training (race craft), and the fact that they offer coaching at their events.

I agree with Kurt that the line between DE and racing is an important one, and people should decide which side they want to be on. Personally, I think everyone should be racing, if for no other reason than to share the costs.

regarding timing: I thought the only rule was not to have timing readable in the car real time. If you want to play your video later and time laps fine. Just don't look up at your timer on the main straight and see your last lap time so you can now go try to beat it. Could be wrong, but that is the rule I would enforce for a student of mine.

regarding passing without a point: I don't want it in any DE. I drive street cars with street safety equipment. I do not expect a car to pass me without a point so am not watching for it, except for when one or two asshats that I am not sure believe the rules apply to them are closing on me.

I don't agree! Not even sure if I agree that everyone should be allowed in a DE

Not sure who PBOC is, but TrackDaze permits open passing without point byes in Red, instructor group. I was actually somewhat concerned with this, but in reality, I only witnessed one pass without pointing - and that was me passing on the inside of T1, but because of not being certain outside car saw me, we sort of went through side by side.

One of the reasons I don't drive in FATT is because of my experience with certain drivers passing without point byes - difficult to drive safely if you don't know the rules.

PBOC = Porsche/ BMW Owners Club. It is either in CA or FL (possibly both), but I don' think they are nationwide.

As did the one before the last one and so on. They are like mushrooms. When the conditions* are right they just seem to pop up from thin air.

PBOC - Florida only. Not really a club at all. For profit business.
