Leiden, welcome. Where do you park that big boat? You must have a big garage.

Purchased my first Porsche last year, and have been driving/tinkering with it ever since.

1985.5 944 N/A
951 Brakes/drilled rotors
951 Sway bars
951 Trans
1991 S2 3.0 engine
Full stainless exhaust
Fiberglass side skirts, bumper covers.
968 rear hatch/wing
Koni Yellows w/ 250lb springs
17" ROH ZR6 wheels

Currently taken apart replacing all the bushings in the suspension, rebuilding calipers, sorting out an oil pump housing leak, rewiring turn signals, fogs, etc etc.

I am often between Bel Air, Timonium & Catonsville areas. Still on the lookout for that job that will pay enough for me to purchase an 80's 911.

Welcome Tank. I am by Loch Raven reservoir and have a garage with a lift. Bring beer and we can get that whip in the air for projects.

Hey All,

Joined this covert forum on the recommendation from a buddy at work. I've been a long time air-cooled VW guy and have always wanted a 911. My daily driver is a '97 540i/6 which was just totalled(cosmetic) and handed back to me by my insurance company. Having served me well for over 3 years, a young lad at work has a keen interest in buying it. This suits me fine as my wife only authorizes 3 automobiles per person at our house. The rest of the stable is a sweet '99 Geo Metro that will become my daily and a '67 Karmann Ghia that will be turned into a Grassroots Challenge car. I'm close to retiring from the Air Force and have decided to buy a 911 as a retirement gift.

So the search has begun for a 911 "driver" to be added to my household. I do my own wrenching and will be maintaining the car myself. Occasional autox and potential entry into the world of HPDE. Loosely, we're looking for a 87-88 Coupe that may or may not have the turbo look, wife likes the whale tail. Sunroof isn't necessary but would be nice as would A/C. I'm not opposed to Targa and I have just started looking at earlier 80's cars. I've been looking in the low teens, less than $15k. I have a couple leads in NJ but thought I would post up here and see what you guys have laying around.

Later,
Bruce

Welcome Bruce.

Sounds like an '87 - '89 911 Carrera Coupe with Motronic would be a good target car. Aftermarket has some AC "upgrades" for $$$

This article by Griffiths can get your reading started.

Cheers.

Welcome Bruce.

A nice G50 87 - 89 is going to be around 20k or more unless you want to do a lot of wrenching on it. You can find a fairly nice early 80's SC for 15k or under without much of a problem. Good luck with your search.
