I'll add to all the comments about how fun it was. Sorry to all the Red Group folks I terrorized with my intermittent (at best) brake lights. Through sheer luck, I finally found the reason for the short on Sunday just before leaving.
Apart from the brake lights, the car ran great but the driver was so-so. I had a blast chasing (and never catching) Kurt on Sunday and Justin on Saturday. I found out that year old R888s only have but so much grip! I had an awesome student as well. Definitely a good start to the season.

Thanks to all of you PCA Potomac Dorki and DE'ers that made last weekend fun! I learned a great deal on this 2nd time driving in SPMain.
@ Dr.K: Thanks for excellent advices, great pointers on improvements area, and the overall fun, both on and off track. I gained a different perspective riding in your race car. Although I have to say the toughest lesson for the weekend is "going in-and-out of the passenger side of car #39". That I can't seem to master quickly Special Thanks to Vranko for letting me use his garage and tools, and for teaching me how to change the brake pads. See y'all at the next events!

It's difficult for me to explain since I'm so non-technical. Here's my attempt though.
The tail light assembly contains 5 bulbs. There's one small bulb that on the outside edge for the running lights, one yellow bulb for turn signal, and three additional bulbs for the brake light, reverse light, and additional running lights i assume. Two of those three bulbs are 1156s meaning they have a single contact point at their base through which they are powered. The bulb furthest to the inside is an 1157 which has 2 contact points. One of the two contact points in the assembly, not the bulb, had broken off and was trapped in the housing the bulb screws into. On the track, this tiny piece of metal would fly around and contact something within the housing thereby shorting the line. On the street the flake of metal would mostly lay dormant in he housing since it wasn't really exposed to the braking or lateral Gs we see on the track. I only found this piece as I replacing the bulbs (again) so that I would be sure to have new bulbs when I took the car to the dealer to trace the electrical issue. Does that make sense? Tony, I realized I forgot to thank you, Dr. K, John Sullivan and Joe Lagoia for helping chase this bizarre issue down over the course of the weekend. I'm glad it's resolved (cheaply)!

BTW, did anyone lose a taillight on Friday?
I "found" it in turn 1 with my mentee's car. I thought I could straddle it. |

It was great seeing everyone after what seemed like a long off-season. Well at least I was able to get the new car to and on the track. Only had one session as the new build was really down on power. So need to get that taken care of.
Congrats to Karl for the promotion to Blue. Let's see, we live on the same street, we both have two 914's .. one green and the other orange (mine is really schoolbus yellow) and now in the same run group Hope to make the next event with a healthy car!
