Great time with the new car and I had a very good instructor. All weekend people kept telling me that the car is fast but it has about the same HP as the S2 Already looking forward to my next event. The car developed a mechanical, shutting down under load, so no running on Sunday. Looks like another trip to the shop but no tow truck this time. That's another story.

What a fun weekend!

Cindy enjoyed the jump into Black group, and by the end of the weekend was wondering what she was so afraid of before....

My apologies to anyone behind me when I dropped the LeMon's muffler on Friday morning. But thanks to everyone that put up with the little car when it was on track. And yes, my arm is bruised. We've got a race coming up in a couple of weeks, and the fuel tank work we did seemed to pay off (at last race discovered we had hole in the pickup tube which was preventing us from using half the fuel in the tank. )

I had a great time instructing Gary Baker. As I mentioned to him, its amazing how much driving performance is possible from a convertible!

Glad that Stuart & Andrew were able to resolve issues, enabling them to drive the entire weekend.

And thanks to Scott for the ride in the 996 racer (now that I can fit in the seat ). I'm am now officially green with envy for the power and handling. BTW...Scott, did you ever return my lap belt?

LOL Clever and harsh all in one. I love it.

I think I might have an OK video of Ryan raking the T1 rock garden.

Got a couple of videos of an on track parallel parking job in T1. I will post when the pro stills I ordered show up

i have been in the right seat of this car driver combo and the word "slow" did not come to mind other than the traffic we were slicing through.

No kidding! Mia suggested we line up together on Sunday and then she was gone. I couldn't pedal the Boxster fast enough!

Thanks to Robert Yerman and Hazel de Burgh for the Instructor mentoring. I am sure my students will thank them when I am not screaming at them in German going into Turn 1.

Thanks to Tony for letting me squat in his well equipped trailer.

And thanks to Hazel and John Galloway for the ride-alongs and the pointers. Little by little . . .

Default Laugh Out Loud Fun!

Great seeing everyone, car ran well (except for a last session DNF - more later), and had a really good student. On Friday had lots of fun running with Jim E and Bob M; in the last session Bob and I were making lots of passes, some induced by "creative signals", like moving track right and giving the signal to the left entering T1. The only limitation was that in that session White was combined with Red/Black so we were restricted to White passing zones.

In the last session Saturday Jim Bob and I were performing multiple leapfrog passes with three cars, then Bob and I took it to a whole new level. We passed several times each lap, and in total we made passes in every corner and every straight except 7-8! The highlights were a pass at the apex of T8 after having given Bob a pass between 6-7, and we once passed three times between the brake zone and the exit of Turn 1 (I gave Bob a late pass under braking; he moved left and pointed me to the apex, I took it but he knew my line was compromised so he dove underneath and I gave him the pass just after apex)! I have never literally laughed out loud while I was driving on track before; pure on-track gold!

DNF: Was shifting to 4th after Turn 3 and something broke in the shift linkage; found a spot to get out of the way to the right of T5 until they could tow me over to the tub at Carousel so that they didn't have to black flag the session. Turns out I snapped the stud of the shift fork that mounts to the shifter and holds the end of the forward shift rod. If that is all it is, then it is an inexpensive fix and it happened on the session of the last day, so I'll count my blessing - it could have been a lot worse.

Eric

IF this first event of the season is any guide, this season is going to be a ripper!

Friday was uncomfortably cold, but the track was faster than Saturday/Sunday by around a second in my car. The first few laps were pure rust removal - everything felt sloppy. By the third run I was down in the :24s which is as fast as #11 goes. Rockin'!
Had some great runs, and some great dices. Car ran strong, felt terrific, and no track departures or spins.

Picked up Kurt's blue student on Sunday. He was part of a four-car Subie contingent with mechanic. Some strong cars in that bunch. My guy definitely needed some smoothing out, and went well after that.

Combo Red/Black last run Sunday was a blast. managed to keep a couple of GT3s honest too.

Is a "ripper" a good thing? I don't speak Austrailian, mate.

Sorry I missed you all on Sat/Sun...I was in Martinsville, getting my redneck on. (Sunscreen is $5 for the littlest tube).
