Welcome, er, Bordin (is that your first name). You'll find 944s get some ribbing here, but they're great, balanced cars.

Yep, mine hasn't fallen off a flat bed yet.

My name is Dan. The puddle was from the bad water pump on the car when I bought it. Every time I drove it lost a half gallon of water. I upgraded from a 1974 Plymouth Valiant 4-Door with a 318 to the 944. The Charger is my fun car.

Hi all,

I posted a car for sale and someone was wondering who I was. Sorry about that, since this board isn't one of my normal hangouts. Mea culpa.

My name is Ken and I have a '70 911 and a '74 914. I've owned the 911 for over 10 years and the 914 for less than a year (but I was the go-to guy for maintenance since the 914 was owned by a friend). I've been on 914world since that site started and so I started hanging out with some of the 914 guys who didn't mind seeing a tail dragger show up at their events.

Atleast by the pile on one car, you can tell which one gets used

Hey guys,

Didn't see this thread until now, so apologies for being so rude and not introducing myself.

I just moved down to the NoVA area back in December. I had been living in Boston for a few years prior to that -- I went there for grad school and stuck around for a job. Ultimately, however, I got tired of the weather, car-unfriendly-attitude, and missed my g/f (who had been living in the DC area for a couple of years by that point). As much as I rag on Boston, I do really love it. I work here Mon-Thurs and am back in NoVA over the weekends. I'm an engineer by education but my current job has taken me to slightly "softer" endeavors.

I am originally from AZ, where I bought my first 951. Car was beautiful cosmetically (you guessed it: Guards Red, 1986) but mechanically was in dire need of a going-through. In late 2007 she was totaled in a hit-and-run with some illegals (no joke, they literally got out of the car and ran). I was paid very handsomely by State Farm which enabled me to buy my current 951.

Current car is an '86 951 that I have long since modified away from being a comfortable daily driver. I spent most of my time in AZ attending DE's and Autoxes, and then took a four-year hiatus when I moved up to Boston. I ultimately brought the car up to Boston but was only able to attend two autoxes, total.

Back in March I attended my first DE with the Potomac region -- what a blast. Man, the cobwebs were thick but I had a great time. SP was a fun track; it really reminded me of Arroyo Seco out in NM...only better...

Thanks for being so welcoming, y'all. Great group of people from what I can tell. Oh and don't worry about giving me crap for owning a 944. I'll be the one laughing when I pass you on the track....Ok ok ok maybe not all of you...just figured I'd do what I could to stir the pot...

And here are a few pictures:

First, the totaled 951. Thought you might like it, in a schadenfreude kind of way:

Current car: only pictures I have right now; you'll have to forgive me for the horrible quality. Car was dirty as well, yadda yadda... </disclaimer> The last picture is proof positive that the 944, aside from the Cayenne, is the best utility vehicle out there.
