That's true-ish. In MD the technicians verify all lights come on when the key is turned to the ACC position and then all go off when it is started. I believe they can fail your emissions for blatant safety issues due to this.

Didn't know that, airbag light will fail MD emissions test?

Would love to live in MD, grew up in Annapolis. VA State Inspection is a real pain in the derriere.

Ok, can someone edumacate me as to where I should look for the grounds and connections for the seat belts that trigger the airbag light? I did ask the dealership how much it would be for them to fix it, and even the service guy I spoke with said, "Wow, $1,200.00... that's a lot!" We said in unison, "For that price, the little light can just stay on!"

Then again, if there's a TSB, shouldn't they fix it for free?

Intersport cleared mine and I had no issues passing VA inspection. The mechanic did question why I had these strange yellow pads that seem to have been overheated a lot . After I explained to him what I use the car for he said I must know what I'm doing and didn't bother to inspect anything else!

There is a TSB you can view on renntech. It is related to the ground points that caused most of the problem. I purchased the kit for my 996 C2 and never used it. I tried cleaning the ground points and used Deoxit. Light never came back on.

Not true. It's an emissions test and not a safety inspection. Only the check engine light needs to be out. On an ODBII car, it would fail anyway if the check engine light is on.

I just went through a MD emissions test this week with the airbag lit and I passed. Probably would not pass the state inspection when you transfer titles. In MD they are 2 altogether different tests.
