Default Jack up the car to change pss-9 firmness?

I wa on River Road near the DC line and almost had my fillings shaken loose due to the super hard ride on the pot holes and crappy pavement. I was having no fun driving the car then I realized I have PSS-9 and can soften the ride.

Do I need to jack up the car to unspring them, or can I adjust them with as is?

I believe the po said the rear are at full firm and the fronts are somewhere less than firm.

Those are good settings for the track but not so much for the street. I used to have PSS9's on my car. What I would do to change the settings was turn the steering wheel all the way to the right in order to access the left front, and all the way left to access the right front. Then jack up the side that was exposed and I could get in there with a flashlight and adjust. You have to adjust from the rear of the tire. I'm assuming you know the rear shocks are adjusted from the back seat area, not under the car.

I can do my 996 w/ it on the ground now. But I do admit to having it up in the air the first time to see which direction to turn. Though Larrys right, you can probably turn the wheel enough + a flashlight to see them. Now I just do the front by feel and count the clicks w/o even turning the wheel.

In a 996, the top of the rear shocks are bolted under the package shelf inside. So you have to slide that forward to get to the knobs. In a 993 the rear shocks dont enter the passenger compartment. So if the adjusters are still on the top, they're going to be back in the engine bay on the sides.

FWIW, I have PSS9s on my 993 and the rears are adjusted on the shock under the car, not in the back seat area.

you don't have to jack it up to adjust.
