Fantastic weekend! Four years since I was last at the Glen, and and over two years since I've completed two events in a row without any mechanical issues to deal with - thanks to the new car!! Lots of drover rust to scrub off, but made some good progress and looking forward to continuing the learning curve on the new car at Summit Point next month! And besides my own progress I had a really great student who took to the track like a duck to water, which just added more to the overall fun factor for me.

It was great seeing Jerome back at the Glen and getting caught up on things; getting acquainted with Brian and Mia in the next garage; getting a fun ride-along with John E on Sunday; sharing a garage with the "other" DD (sorry I couldn't offer more technical advice but TR seemed to have you pretty well covered there) and just really enjoying getting back into the flow of everything. WGI is such a special place and even the longish drive up and back provides some stretches of absolutely sublime beauty that just add to the experience.

I did notice photographers shooting from lots of the flag stations over the course of the weekend - was one of the "pro" groups taking pics or were these just our own local Potomac folks shooting? I'd love to get some shots of the new car to freshen up my screen saver pics.

Thanks to all the organizers of both the track sessions and the social events! Outstanding job by all, and very much looking forward to going back again next year!

Fun weekend. Thanks to Nader for the tips on how to hustle the 944 chassis around that big track. Had a couple great runs with some cars that run "my speed". Two years is a lot of time to take off between events there. Maybe I should skip Summit main for 2 years and just do all the out of town stuff.

Hey, I do have you (VERY briefly) in a video, going around the bus stop and down the hill. I'll hope to post it over the next couple of days.

Congrats to Antonio, Matt and Paul on their promotions! Matt was a great student, and learned the track quickly. It was hard to believe he was a Greenie. On his only session Sunday (as a newly promoted Blue Drover), he was able to stick with a couple very seasoned drivers, and eventually get by them. I think only one car passed him. I felt bad afterwords for spending so much time telling him ahead of time how to be courteous to all the Blue drovers who would surely be passing him

Antonio was really flying out there, and did a great job learning the track on Friday. By the time I rode with him Saturday morning all I could do was point out some minor positioning tweaks in a couple spots on the track. He drove with confidence, and really stayed ahead of the car. It was hard to believe how far he had progressed in only two seasons.

Paul seemed to do great in his Black check-out ride, only I can't be too sure because I did not see him for long

Rob -- you had a really tough break this weekend. It's a shame only got to drive for a day, but there's always next year. Hope you made it home ok and are starting to feel better.

Thanks for sticking around, Dick. I really appreciate it. She is a quick learner, just needs to continue to build her confidence.

Good seeing you back out there boy-o!!! Great job on stuffing the '51 with all your stuff too. Like you said Porsche already had an SUV decades before the pepper car!

No doubt! Missing an oppurtunity to drive the Glen is a mistake. Life is short...drive the Glen!

I feel really bad about ending the run session short! Sorry to our run group! We tried to limp in but I couldn't make it and the wheels were BRAND NEW BBS It doesn't look like the wheel was damaged but I will be looking at them more closely.

On Friday I was getting familar with some changes I made to the car; more front spring, 18" rubber and new front splitter. I tested these changes the week prior and HATED it. Car was numb and not very sure footed. TPC worked on it and tweaked the ride height, camber and toe. It made a huge difference. By Saturday morning I was very comfortable with the car and it was probably the best session I've ever had driving....the car was absolutely flying. I was amp'd up and couldn't wait to ride again. It was sort of a blessing to have Tony ask me for a ride in the 2nd session. With him in the car I didn't push too hard and we still lost the driver rear tire. It could have ended a lot worse if I was running alone. So thanks Tony! I ended up having to mix 18" front and 19" rears to continue running. It worked okay but wasn't ideal.

Yeah right!

I drove with my wife too. Lucky for her she drew Ryan as her instructor and he helped her tremendously. Like how to BRAKE!!!!! She's driving well and fell in love with the Glen too. She's already looking for dates to go back because waiting a year is too long

Thanks Brian! And yes, Justin was having a grand time, plus Sunday was his birthday - what a great way to celebrate!

to all those who wouldnt shut up about telling me i "just have to go to the glen, i just have to", i want to say 2 things: 1) now you can shut up already! but much more importantly 2) THANK YOU!!!!!!

thank you for pursuading me that it was worth the drive and time off work! THE best track i've driven so far (vs. all 3 @summit, both @NJMP, and VIR...altho i must admit VIR is a close 2nd). WG def keeps you on your toes and helped hone my heads-up vision/awareness skills tenfold which ran the gamut from: navigating radical elevation changes, managing turns with less off-track visual cues than i am used to, as well as having to quickly adjust for some parts of the track being dry while others totally wet, all the way to being able to quickly spot and avoid a dead animal between T3/4 without hitting a wall.

i will DEFINITELY be back next year and might even make it up again this season.

thanks again and see you all in 3wks at summit!
