Me too. Last year when we went to the Daytona 24, the Continental race was the best of the bunch.

I did this event last year. It was a good time, just brutal hot. The mix of cars made it interesting. Not so much a race, more a show and demonstration for PCA. I would consider doing again, but not in the cards this year.

You should be able to do the Thursday practice. Some guys did last year.

Emailed Pete about Thursday. Said he'll be sending info out on it to us.

We can practice, but he thinks it's around $450 for the day. I guess similar to the day
before the CR at VIR. Open track, but a fee incurred to do it.

I've never done Thunderbolt. I am doing a DE there Friday July 8th with Schattenbaum to learn the track.

The decreasing radius turn they call the octopus and the sweeper following it that is off camber is a very tricky combination. I tried various lines through there and none of them were very good, and that was with my AWD. Good luck.

I found the track pretty difficult to pass slightly slower cars. Only 2 straights long enough to get beside someone in-class. Be sure to use lots of curbing going onto the front straight.

And if it rains, don't even think of going off-track. They'll have to send a swamp buggy to rescue you...

Remember, this event does not use the regular Thunderbolt circuit. Grand-am uses a chicane after T2, so a little different than you may have run before. I wouldn't worry too much about the practice day. I went in cold last year and it was easy to pick up the entire track.
