Yes, and in general that is an achievable objective. However, there are risks that can't be eliminated by any amount of careful management of the events. Oil spills, mud on the track, mechanical failure [yours or someone else's car] can result in damage.

Without getting into a value judgement about the relative cost of a 1973 914 and a 2004 996TT, there is something to be said for having a track car that wont break the bank if it is inadvertently damaged.
