I'm new here, located in the Richmond area. Race an '86 944 (or I should say have raced, twice). A few friends and I picked the car up to run a Lemons race for $100 and also ran an autox to test the car out the week before we ran it. Car made it to the finish (17 hours) with only one off and the only issue being a coolant leak the 2nd day - which we couldn't diagnose due to it raining at the time. So, we just would refill every 20 minutes and go back out and race. Looking to do some more track days and autox in it, extremely fun car to drive. Only thing I think we're going to do is put a limited slip in it as we were having massive (inside) wheel spin out of turns.

Here are a couple of pics. It actually ran for 9 hours straight day one and 8 hours straight day 2 (minus stops for water). We were all rookies to endurance racing so it was pretty nice to make it to the finish.

Default JBendo - Introduction: John Bendekovic

PCA Member since 2004. First Porsche was 1981 911SC (work done by Tom Stewart at RedLine Motors in Purcellville).

Avid Autocrosser in PCA. Committee member, instructor and have won the "Street Prep 3" class the past 5 years. Lots of room for improvement.

Do the occasional DE and FATT ... but not as often as I'd like to (wife, 3 young kids, little league coaching, business travel ... am lucky I'm not driving a Ford Taurus).

I do 24hr endurance racing in "Chump Cars" and "LeMons" with a team ... BMW e30s (we have 3). It's a hoot. Our best finish is only 9th, though we feel a top 5 coming on this season.

Semiconductor industry and engineer, by trade. DC area since 1987.

Would rather watch "LeMans" for the 28th time than see any new movie with Adam Sandler in it.

Hi everyone. I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Howard, I live in Arlington, and work as an IT consultant for a small company (most of my work involves Oracle databases). I have never owned a Porsche, but I hope to find one sometime soon. I've been lurking here for a while. This forum is a great resource.

Hi, Howard. Thanks for introducing yourself. If you have been lurking for a while and not been scared off you have passed the first test.

Welcome!

What car(s) are you thinking of? There are a couple of well-maintained cars of just about each ilk for sale on this board. While the water-cooled cars (1998-2002 or so) are the best value in terms of power/$$ and modern suspension, there's a certain feel to the older cars. Are you looking to drive your car on the track? That will change your choice.
