this explains so much...

I think your concoction deserves a youTube video. Lemme know when it's done cause I always need a new way to serve rum.

"Well, I got a bottle of Publix eggnog today. Theirs is really good. Put a tbsp of Strohs 160 proof on top of a cup of it and, with a little trouble, got it aflame. Then sprinkled in the nutmeg and it sparkled. Then I stirred it to put out the fire. It wouldn't go out, and because I had filled the glass just about to the top, it spilled all over the counter. The fire went with it so now the counter was afire! I blew on it which just made it worse. Mom ran for the wet washcloth, but by then I guess all the alcohol was burnt up, and the flames went out. Since most of the alcohol had burned up, the eggnog lost most of its punch. No, there wasn't a burnt hole in the counter."

The egg nog story is a hoot! Glad that it didn't end with something like, ....."and when the fire truck arrived...."

Another variant I've had is Sambuca in a tall thin shot glass, with a coffee bean floating on top. The Sambuca was lit, and the bean would sizzle. Pretty cool....as long as you blew out the flame and waited for the glass rim to cool before drinking.

How is that a failure ? How many cars have you successfully parked 5 feet up in the air?
