Got the GHL exhaust system off tonight (MUCH easier than I expected - the header/heat exchangers came right off even though I could barely reach some of the nuts with a wrench -- 1/32 of a turn (which took a bit of force) and the nuts screwed the rest of the way off by hand. NOTE: Matt suggested NOT to use the locknuts that I had bought when we put these on. I did lose 2 nuts at VIR, and after that kept checking to make sure they were tight (none ever loosened up again). I'm strongly considering using copper nuts (unless I hear otherwise) on the headers when I put them on. I would have done that tonight but the outflow flanges are a little rough, and I'd like to put them on a belt sander before I put them on the car.

If the local shop has time next week, I'll have an H-pipe setup fabricated for the Flowmasters. If not, I'll put on the megaphones (what? I can't hear you...).

One question: if I have the Flowmasters done, I'll have an O2 bung welded on the outflow pipe from the driver's side exhaust (on the next pipe, not on the headers). But if run the megaphones, there's no place to put the O2 sensor. I'd be interested in people's comments about running without the O2 sensor for a race. I've heard Matt and Jazz's comments already (exactly opposite). Also, is the O2 sensor bung standard across the industry? I ordered a "weld-on" one from Amazon.com (will be here on Friday).

I know you will disagree but all bungs are the same.

Weld in place then drill the hole in the middle.

ROTFL! Id reverse the latter directions though, else you might not be able to screw the sensor all the way in.

If this car is basically done, shouldn't we close this thread? Otherwise, we'll be reading about every frickin' miniscule thing that Dr. K does with this car.

i have three gallons of vintage gas from 1983. this is the good stuff, the way they used to make it back in the good ol'days. it is still in the tanks on the two motorcycles in my basement, neither of which has been run for 25 years. just come by and siphon it out.

I'll take it! I'll even help you get rid of those useless motorcycles taking up space.
