Re Greg's suggested Islamic punishment:

That would be fitting for whoever used my daughter's Eclipse for target practice last night. Three good-sized holes in the door, likely from a high-powered BB gun.
No I'm not going to post pictures. It would take months, maybe years to figure out how to resize the images.
Besides, it's a Mitsubishi.

That is likely paint under there. Can't always tell as many manufacturers use colored primer. But, if the ins. co. doesn't come through, that should be easily fixed. Great thing is that it isn't to metal as, when the galvanizing is compromised, things go downhill.

That looks like through the clear coat and into the paint, but not metal, which is good.

I think the suggestion of a wet sand and clear-coat re-spray is probably a good one, since they wouldn't have to re-match the paint, which no matter how hard you try is never 100%.

Maybe it was done by a buck deer with rabies?

Well, I'm having the repair done down here in NC where I'm working for the next 9 months, or so.
The estimate is $1017 and looks like they are blending the front fender within the panel, door shell says 'overlap major adj. panel' and the rear fender says 'blend left outer duct'.
Body labor 14.4 hrs ($40/hr)
Paint labor 7.0 hrs ($40/hr).
Paint supplies 7 hrs $25/hr).

Anything jump out as WTF?
Thanks in advance.

mike

Oh, and 0.8 hours to remove one headlight!

The .08 for the headlight. 1st time to read the owner's manual maybe...

Open trunk
reach in
pull carpet back, and
release clamp...

total time 0.0083 or ~30secs

You might want some knobbier tires if you like off-roading so much. Paint looks nice tho!

I work on a construction site and the Contractor finally decided to do some dust control just before I returned.
It's now raining cats and dogs so it'll be worse leaving.

it's purty!

Now stop washing it today so the rest of us can get home without the rain.

Now that the driver's side is looking good the passenger side must have been jealous... Driving up I-81 yesterday afternoon a tire side wall from a tractor trailer decided to make a run for it. I'm in the left lane when this giant rubber donut appears out of no where from the far right. I could only swerve to avoid a head-on hit so the bumper corner, fender, door and a little of the rear quarter took the hit. Plenty of rubber marks, a bunch of scratches and maybe a small dent along the fender wheel opening.
State-Farm is taking care of it again with a Comprehensive claim with no deductible.
I'm thinking of adding a repaint of the hood to the repair. What should I expect to pay for that?

Regards,
mike
