My wife recently bought a 1997 C4S with a TPC supercharger and intercooler. She's thinking about having the supercharger removed, because she wants to use the car as a daily driver. I checked on TPC's web site, and their price for the complete setup (supercharger and intercooler) is $11,500.
What do you think a used TPC 993 supercharger/intercooler kit might be worth? I was guessing that it might be worth roughly half of retail, but I have no idea what demand there might be for it, which could affect the price. Thanks! |

I second Tony's comments. FWIW, I'll bet you paid a premium for it and whatever you get for it, if you sell it as a kit, will be less than the value lost in the vehicle.

"Why not just leave it on the car? Is it a problem driver with it now? AFAIK, TPC tends to be one of the better names out there. Plus, if the build was "complete", there's a possibility that lower compression pistons might be installed to deal with the boost. Plus, there might be other changes, too, like injectors, programming, etc. De-install might not be as simple as it sounds."
The internals are the same and it runs piggy back programming and extra injectors. So it really is plug and play. |

How hard is it to swap out the belt? Not that it's impossible, but unless you pull it out and have the stock bits to put back in I see break even at best.

I had a 993 with the TPC supercharger on it. The car ran fine as a DD. It's only when you stick your foot in it that you know there is a supercharger there. Tell your wife to drive it for awhile and she will get used to it. Why did she buy it in the first place if she didn't want the supercharger?

I know the TPC kit has it's own intake manifold, so if you want to go back, I assume you have all the old intake parts.

I have a TPC supercharged 993. She really needs to keep it in the car. I've driven some without and they are no fun after you've gotten used to the SC. There is a market for used ones ... Rennlist would be the best place to sell it .... but she really needs to keep it.
And, I'll be able to say there is another woman in the DC area with excellent taste!
