Had a great time in the lemons car this weekend. First time the car has run in a few years. Once you get over the part where it feels like a bus, it’s pretty fun. Pace was pretty good with a consistent 1:56. That was good enough to pass a 996 GT3, E92 M3, and various other cars
Discovered we broke a rear sway bar link, and rubbed a hole in the fuel filter. That ended our day early Sunday. Need to figure out why the car is running so rich. Plus, it needs a valve adjustment badly. Dang thing sounds like a diesel and has zero top end. It falls on it's face at 4500 and won't pull to the 6200 red line. Any BMW M30 gurus here?

Was that the 5 series sedan? I asked someone there if it was a lemons car or someone's actual car and he wasn't sure either.

I gotta be honest, for a lemons car...that thing is suprising fast! I could hardly catch you in my 944.
I wish our mazda works for the race. Luckily I think I solved our problems this morning. Cant wait!

Have you done a comp check? Thats the same motor as the E30 right? Its known to break rockers. Could be running on 5... Seen it happen MANY times at the track (enough so that we built & carried a repair kit to all races)

Yea, it's a lemons car for sure! That's awesome that they didn't know. It's a $350 1986 535i. I thought most people would have figured that out, probably should have put a lemons sticker on it. It's a giant POS with SO many problems.

Glad to hear you figured out your fuel issue Brian. It's going to be a long two weeks getting prepared.

Stephen, it's the big six (3.5) M30 motor. I think they were placed in the 5, 6, and 7 series. It doesn't feel like it's running on 5 cylinders, but I could be wrong. I think it's either a bad O2 sensor, AFM, ECU, or FPR. I'm off to the junk yard this weekend to find some parts. I'm hoping to get it figured out this weekend, could really use the extra power to compensate for the awful handling. However, with it running so rich the temps are quite low.

Who needs the skidpad when you've got SC in the rain? Three back-to-back sessions. Of course for the good of The Club ... I was drying the track.

Well it wasn't decorated and there were a number of other BMW guys there.... when I noticed the hot swaps I thought more along the lines of Lemons. An event like that could be a good testing ground if you had enough people, you could hot swap it every session all day.
